Discover Trops

From its first experimental gallery to becoming a cultural foundation for emerging artists.

The Trops Timeline

2021

Curated Popup Gallery

In the second summer of the pandemic, Nora Tofigh and Nemo Librizzi curated a series of popup gallery and performing arts exhibitions in the Lower East Side with contemporary artists across genres, which led to the Trops Curatorial Projects. Trops began producing digital media that documented and expanded on these cultural activations, focusing especially on visual artists and community resilience.

2022

Bohemian Events & Collaboration

In 2022, Trops continued gallery popups and introduced “Bohemian” cultural events, opening and closing traditional gallery exhibitions with performing artists, collaborating with local businesses as host venues, and creating platforms for performing poets & musicians. The Trops evolved into a platform for both visual art and expressive, cross-genre collaboration, blending new creative energy in NYC.

2023

Launch of Trops Publishing

In 2023, we created Trops Publishing, expanding the use of digital media into print media, including a graphic novel, poetry book, and exhibition catalog. The Trops community expanded to include writers, photographers, editors, and new collaborators across disciplines, bridging them with cultural content in both print and digital formats.

2024

Trops Foundation & Magazine

The Trops Foundation was formally established into a nonprofit organization dedicated to cultural empowerment and community arts programming. We launched the inaugural issue of Trops Magazine at the annual Winter Solstice event, a curatorial journal showcasing artworks, interviews, photography, and poetry by emerging artists. Through both print and digital media documenting emerging contemporary arts, Trops continues to support creative practitioners and nurture cultural progress in NYC and beyond.

Empower Contemporary Arts

Trops Foundation provides a platform that empowers contemporary arts in the city of New York and beyond.

Our magazine features artworks, interviews, poetry, and photography from emerging artists, and contextualizes them through curatorial reflections of art history.

As an organization, Trops Foundation distributes its magazine as a vessel for culture, to foster artistic dialogue and public engagement in both traditional and unconventional spaces.
